Someone obviously has a death wish, I wonder if anyone had heard that before or if it was actually original. I mean sure there are plenty of soccer moms who drive the x5 and well the 3 series is somewhat reffered to as a woman's car but that doesn't mean their husbands bought them their cars. Im sure that the guy who came up with that envied BMW like hell!

I just got my oil change done today at a 10 minute oil place....25 bucks out the door......damned if I ever take it to BMW for any service.

Synthetic oil as proscribed? Did they also reset your computer so it doesn't blink at you to change the oil? If so that's great! Who did you take it to? (I'm leary of 10 min oil change places after I took my last car in (00 Solara), and they put too much oil and I was a smoke trail on the interstate for about 10 minutes until it 'cooked' off..

But $25 vs $60 for a warranty change, or $100 or more for out of warranty change.. Blah no choice I suppose. (Cept to DIY!) I will go that route next time, but I suppose I need the tool to reset the computer counter?

What device does that you bimmer nuts? [???1]

Nope, just Castrol dino oil, no need to reset it as I just ground out the pin myself in a few seconds. I change the oil every 3K so no problem running dino oil. I do watch them like a hawk though and make sure they change the gasket and o ring on the new filter. Need to get off my butt and buy a set of ramps so I can do it in the driveway. Actually, I have not run Mobil 1 on this car yet. Walmart has good prices on it, I used it all the time on the Z28....just not in the BMW. Lets just say for 25 bucks and I watched them good, all fluid top off and good inspection, a hell of alot better than going to BMW for the same thing and getting scrogged for a oil change. Funny thing about E36 BMW's....most mechanics will work on them and are pretty cheap for routine maintenance things....the stuff that screws you is when the electronics and codes get out of whack. I still do love my pretty 10 cent reset wire....might have to take a few pictures the next time I use it for the message board. Wish we had a nice TECH forum with stickies...would be a big help.
